A Chinese famille rose porcelain vase on a cream ground, hand painted with a garden-pavilion scene of figures at leisure, lifted with gilded detail and floral borders. Height 32 cm.
The pavilion scene is a favourite of Chinese decorative porcelain — a whole courtyard drawn around the body of the vase. Slightly smaller than its blossom-tree companion, it groups beautifully in a chinoiserie cluster.
