The Spring Glen Vase, a Franklin Porcelain collector piece designed by the British bird painter Basil Ede. A white porcelain baluster vase banded in 24k gold, painted with a spring meadow scene — a yellow wagtail beside a stream, a white butterfly, a blossoming branch and a bank of primroses and violets wrapping the body.
Franklin Porcelain was the porcelain arm of the American Franklin Mint, which issued collector series by subscription through the 1970s and 80s, produced in Japan. Basil Ede’s naturalistic bird studies are the most sought of these.
