Deep rimmed plates printed in a soft brown outline and hand tinted in colour — a flowering urn with pink peony, blue and yellow blooms and perched birds — on a cream ground inside a scrolled border. An Imari-style oriental floral for the table or a plate wall.
Mason's Patent Ironstone China, first patented in 1813, is one of the great names of English earthenware, made dense and durable for daily use. The brown printed outline filled in by hand with enamel colours is the classic Mason's chinoiserie treatment.
