A pair of Limoges porcelain botanical plates, réhaussé main — hand-highlighted. Each plate has a wide gilt acid-etched border framing a single botanical study: one a spray of purple phlox, the other a flowering allium with green foliage. France.
Réhaussé main means the printed decoration is finished by hand, the colour and gold worked over the transfer so each plate carries a little of the painter's touch. The heavy gold border and botanical centre make them display plates first, wall pieces or chargers under a smaller plate.
