The Autumn Glen Vase, a Franklin Porcelain collector piece designed by the British bird painter Basil Ede. A white porcelain baluster vase banded in 24k gold, painted with an autumn woodland scene — fallow deer grazing in a clearing, a chaffinch, a red admiral butterfly and turning autumn foliage wrapping the body.
Franklin Porcelain was the porcelain arm of the American Franklin Mint, which issued collector series by subscription through the 1970s and 80s, produced in Japan. Basil Ede’s naturalistic bird studies are the most sought of these.
